Get Grillin’ Giveaway

Hi everyone!!

Sorry for the long departure from blogging. Since I’ve been so busy working I used the time to have Mark transfer my site to another host, or something like that. Either way, it’s up and running now – hopefully for good!

I can not wait to catch up on all your posts so I’ll keep this kind of short :)

Since I worked 60ish hours last week, I haven’t been eating the greatest. Not bad, just not good! I’m still finishing up my 2 weeks at the Yale Club while I’m working my new job full time so its been crazy. When I get home, I don’t even feel like turning on my computer. Seriously, there’s dust on there! Never thought that would happen.

After this week I’ll be back to one job and hope to start working out again. It figures I keep a bikini body all spring and then slack off for summer! June 28 it’s 0n. I’ve set a date between me and the pavement! I really miss running.

Throughout the busy week, I somehow still managed to find time to rummage through Target’s food clearance section, which has been providing quick breakfasts and snacks.

I also was served a few quality meals. Thanks Dad!

And even one by my Mom – I love parents!

Last but not least, I’ve been making sure to get my fair share of desserts at work.

This weekend I also got a surprise in the mail..

A “Get Grilling Kit” from Lawry’s through MyBlogSpark! They have two new marinades, and both of them sound amazing.

They also both contain no HFCS, which is awesome because so many marinades/dressings contain it! I really can’t wait to try them once I get a day off. Let’s just say you’ll be seeing Sweet and Sour BBQ Tofu on here in the near future :)

And guess what? Lawry’s (through MyBlogSpark) is also giving me the opportunity to give one of these grilling kits away! Ways to enter:

  1. Leave a comment telling me your favorite way to use marinades.
  2. Link back to this post.
  3. Add me to your blogroll.

Open to American residents only and it ends on Friday so that you’ll receive it for the 4th!

Foodie Heaven

Happy Earth Day!

Yesterday I went to NYC for the day all by my lonesome and… I ended up having a great day! When the boyfriend comes he’s always rushing me. It was nice to go wherever I want to go. I went for lunch in Bryant Park at a ‘Wichcraft stand, Tom Colicchio’s sandwich place. Ah, I can’t wait for Top Chef to come back! Masters is just not the same.

I ordered the cool goat cheese sandwich, which has avocado, celery, walnut pesto, & watercress on multigrain bread. The walnut pesto was so good! I never thought of making pesto with nuts besides pine. I think I need to do some experimentation…

I somehow got one of the best tables in the park because someone was getting up when I was walking by. Fountains and flowers are nice things to stare at while eating. I also watched a couple with their 3 year old son walk away from him, and then watch while he realized they were gone and started freaking out calling for them and running the other way. I thought it was a little mean how long it took them to go to him rather than call to him,  since he obviously couldn’t hear them! I’m usually not a big people watcher but I have a soft spot for babies :)

I had an interview at 1 and then some time to kill before my train home so I called up my personal mapquest (Mark) and found out where the nearest cupcake shop was. Ok, so I actually had to walk like 15 blocks out of my way but I eventually found Crumbs! Seriously, NYC is a foodie’s heaven. I even passed a vegetarian fast  food joint!

There were SO many cupcakes to choose from at Crumbs.

I went with peanut butter cup for Mark and Elvis for me.

I was a good girl and made sure to have dinner first after I had come home. Israeli couscous with cherry tomatoes, peas, feta, and olives.

Then I delved into my cupcake. It was vanilla cupcake with a creme center and banana icing with peanut butter and pb chips on top. It was actually a little disappointing. Way too sweet for my tastes and not worth the 500 calories. I ate about half.

My new goal is to try every cupcake shop in Manhattan to find the best cupcake! So far Magnolia is winning.

Last but not least, the winner of the Stop & Shop gift card (using random integer generator) is Christina. Congrats! Email me (Christinabutter@gmail.com) so I can contact MyBlogSpark and they can send it out for you :)

Questions:

  1. What’s your dream cupcake flavor? I was hoping for a s’mores one.
  2. Have you ever had a pesto made from something other than pine nuts?
  3. Where is your foodie heaven?
  4. Do you mind eating alone?
