A Peanut Butter Post

You know your friends know you well when you receive this as a gift:

7 crazy, organic peanut butters that I’ve never even heard of! How have I never heard of this flavored pb brand??

The Sunland flavors:

  • Hickory Smoked
  • Onion Parsley
  • Cinnamon Currant
  • Thai Ginger
  • Spicy Southwestern
  • Sweet Molasses
  • Vanilla Cranberry

You know your boyfriend knows you well when he emails you articles titled, “No More PB&J Time? 15 Alternative Ways to Enjoy Your Peanut Butter.”

The article stems from a campaign called the PB&J Campaign, which is an online effort that says that eating peanut butter is a good way to help the environment. They list these facts in the article:

  • The water it takes to produce the beef on one burger could produce peanuts for about 17 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
  • The land that it takes to produce that burger could produce peanuts for 19 pb and j sandwiches.
  • The livestock sector is responsible for 18 percent of global climate change.

Interesting facts but I’m sure you could say that about a lot of foods. I think that technically the PB&J campaign is just trying to reduce the amount of animal products that people eat, whether it’s by eating peanut butter or something else non-animal derived. Either way, the article gave 15 recipes filled with peanut butter goodness for me to try out.

I decided on the Nut Butter Potato Cakes for lunch since it gave me a chance to try out the Onion Parsley PB, which is the flavor that immediately caught my eye.

The recipe is simple. I mixed together1 and 3/4 cup mashed potato, 1/4 cup whole wheat flour, 2 heaping tbsp onion parsley peanut butter, a sprinkle of Italian spice, and a handful of diced onion and formed them into patties before browning them on each side on a nonstick skillet.

They were good! It says to dip them in marinara sauce but I only had ketchup. Tasted just like oniony french fries.

This morning I dipped into a new peanut butter jar, Sweet Molasses, as an oat topping. It basically tasted like very sweet peanut butter as the ingredients are peanuts, molasses, evaporated cane juice, and vanilla.

I also added some strawberries, flax, and sliced almonds to the mix.

And speaking of peanut butter, Rosey Rebecca is giving away peanut butter filled Dove chocolates. I think the only thing better than peanut butter is chocolate and peanut butter so check it out!

Ok, off to work out :) Wii Active 30 Day plan Day 4 and some cardio/Body & Soul reading. Have a great Tuesday!

Question: What’s the craziest flavor of peanut butter you’ve ever heard of?

I love PB!! I get appropriate gifts from people too. Like I got a subscription to Cooking Light for Christmas and the Eat This, Not That book from my brother. My boyfriend gave me a magnet that says “eat organic, or as our grandparents called it’food’” haha.

I should have told you-we had a blogger meet up at PB&Co in the city this past weekend!! :-/
