Most of last week was spent at the beach

- with equal parts reading and swimming, so I did get some exercise!

I could spend my life on a beach, it’s so relaxing! The beaches in Aruba all have beautiful white sand and turquoise water. A pretty cool thing about our beach, Eagle beach, was that it was a nesting ground for sea turtles.

There was tons of cautioned off squares where sea turtles had laid eggs. It would have been amazing to see them hatch! While we weren’t that lucky, I did see a sea turtle while snorkeling. He was so cute, just swimming along lazily. This is where an underwater camera would have come in handy!

On that snorkeling adventure I also saw a sunken WW2 ship, a starfish, a sand dollar, squid, and tons of colorful fishies. Snorkeling is always my favorite beach vacation activity and my Dad finally agreed to take scuba diving lessons with me before our next vacay. I can’t wait!
Some other active things we did during the week:
Cave exploring, complete with bats.

Windy desert hikes…

Complete with wild donkeys…

And ending on the beautiful coast.
As for my eating habits for the week, we ended up usually going out to eat forĀ a big breakfast, having something small for lunch, and then going out at night for a big dinner and occasionally dessert, with no snacking in between.
Breakfast # 1: Windie’s Aqua Cafe

A small watersports shop next to our resort owned by a Dutch family. Windie herself cooked us breakfast! She must have thought since we were Americans we were used to a really large amount of food.

Eggs, bread, pancakes, fruit cocktail, yogurt, and coffee.
Breakfast # 2: The Dutch Pancakehouse

This place was next to the Plaza Cafe, where we went to dinner one night, and being the breakfast fanatic that I am, I knew instantly we needed to try it. Everyone had their doubts when the menu consisted soley of crepes but they seriously had like 40 different varieties! They also were actually Dutch pancakes, not crepes, but they wrote that so Americans didn’t think they were American pancakes.

My triple berry Dutch pancake was amazing, and so was everyone elses. It was like dessert for breakfast!
Breakfast # 3: The Waterfront Crabhouse

We came here when we couldn’t find anywhere else open for breakfast. I couldn’t decided between eggs or pancakes so I ordered both and split the pancakes with my Dad.

What would I do without him?! Is there anyone in your family with the same eating habits?
That’s the end to my Aruba trip posts. Hope you enjoyed them
It’s back to work today but I’ll be back to the normal daily eats posts either tonight or tomorrow!

Our least favorite. We walked around for about an hour looking at a million different menus before finally giving up and going to the next place we saw. One thing about Aruba – food is very expensive! An entree was over 20 dollars no matter where we went.

Salad.
Piece of garlic bread.
