To my American Readers: Happy Memorial Day!!!
For everyone else, Happy Monday
Don’t worry, I have to work too.
I’ve made a decision about the whole work thing. Instead of picking option 1 or 2, I created an option 3 and am going with that. Sorry if I’m confusing but I don’t want to bore you with details. But just so you know, there’s usually always a secret option to a dilemma if you think about it long enough!
I’ve kind of been in an exercise slump this past week. After blogging today I plan on swimming some laps. If swimming in the sunny weather can’t get me back in the groove, I don’t know what will.
Some food from the weekend:
Blueberry-almond oats.

Cascadian Farms honey nut o’s with blueberries, bananas, and strawberries.

Maple smoked salmon (brought back from BC!) cream cheese sandwich.

BBQ food – vegetable skewer, mushroom-spinach puff pastry, baked ziti.

Questions:
- What’s your favorite bbq food?
- Any plans for today?

Happy Monday from the West Coast
Did you hear about that rain storm in the North East? Of course it was the night I was leaving. My flight was delayed 2 hours, which luckily wasn’t that bad. A lot of them were cancelled!
Because of that we got a free $15 voucher from the airline for dinner in the airport
I got an egg salad sammie with apple slices and a water.

3 hours later, on the plane, the served dinner again. I was still curious to see what the vegetarian oriental meal looked like so I still got it. Disappointing!

Not bad, just not what I was expecting. It was a little plain! But at least it came with tofu. If you ever fly Cathay Pacific though, get the standard meal! They have a vegetarian option for that anyways and Mark’s food looked really good.
We got to our hotel around 3:30am. Check it out, it’s like our own little apartment!

The bedroom is off to the left but Mark’s sleeping in it. And the best part? The view.

We’ve probably spent at least an hour just sitting by the window and watching sea planes come into the harbor. And you can see the Olympic rings in the water too!
Yesterday we explored the city all day by foot. And I mean ALL day. We met some people from the area. Everyone is SO friendly. And EVERYONE exercises. I don’t think we passed one person not in running or biking clothes. I love it here!
We were so tired afterward that we fell asleep at like 8. Good thing because I’m writing this at 6:30am and continental breakfast here is only from 7am til 9am. You have to be an early bird if you want to eat! Which is exactly what I’m going to do now, and then plan out today, which will probably include a trip to the aquarium if it keeps raining.
Have a great Monday!
Question: Do you wake up early on vacation or like to sleep in?

Happy March 1st!
I have a strong belief that everyone should go on vacation every year. My Dad was an electrician in a union that fought for vacation time back in the day so I guess he instilled that in me. If times were tough we would go to the beaches in NJ a few hours away. If things were good, we’d go somewhere in the Caribbean. As I got older and more interested in travel, I was able to pick the places. The relaxing beach vacations I was used to turned into visiting volcanoes and rain forests in Costa Rica.

My boyfriend on the other hand, doesn’t feel that way about vacations. His parents never went on vacation when he was younger so he thinks it’s a waste of money. It’s funny how different people can be because of how they were raised. Luckily, I put my foot down on this one and now we have our first trip by ourselves planned to Vancouver, in 13 days. I can’t wait!
What’s your stance on vacation? Do you like traveling or would you rather spend the money on something tangible? I think there’s nothing better than spending time with a loved one in a foreign place!
Ok, not sure why I went off on a traveling tangent but, it’s just one of my passions. Another one is fitness, and I have something about that to announce to you soon but I’ll save it for another post
Lunch yesterday was soup from the Women’s Bean Project, which is “a nonprofit business that employs women who have experience chronic unemployment, poverty, or difficult life situations.”

Someone was selling them at my Mom’s job. It comes in a long plastic bag filled with dried beans that you need to soak overnight. Hence the reason we have had it for months and hadn’t made it yet.

Can you believed I missed pizza night because of the stupid snow?! So of course I had a leftover slice with my soup. I couldn’t forgo pizza night all together.

For dinner I made a Near East brown rice/orzo pilaf and added some frozen peas and carrots. Simple but good. Not quick though, it took 40 minutes to cook that pilaf!

Now I gotta skedaddle. Got a busy day ahead of me
Hope your start of the week (and month) is a good one!
